Stampin' UP! Snow Way!

Hi Friends

Sorry I’ve been MIA for a little while but I got sick again, boooo! I’m feeling much better now and I’m ready to get back to creating! :)

Today’s card is one that I think you’ll be looking at and wondering what planet I’ve been on LOL! Yes, I have in fact made a Christmas card in Spring. I know it was probably a little too early to start this but if you remember I got the Snow Place Stamp Set and Snow Friends Framelits Dies (order number 140844) in the Bundle & Save 15% from the Spring/Summer catalogue. I added it to my demonstrator order when I joined and you too can enjoy this cute stamp and die set if you order it before 31 May 2016. Pop over to my shop, details in the header bar above, for more information on this. The new catalogue will be out in June 2016.

Anyway onto today’s card. It was super simple to make and having the dies to cut out the pieces of the snow people was a beaut! I used some white pearlescent cardstock I had on hand and cut it to 8½ x 5½ (inches) which folded in half gives you a 4¼ x 5½ in base card. I then used a piece of Whisper White cardstock (order number 106549) cut to 4 x 5¼ in to form the card layer.

I took another piece of Whisper White cardstock to form a ‘hill’ and cut it to fit the card layer. I inked the edges using Tempting Turquoise Stamp Pad (order number 126952) and a sponge dauber (order number 133773) so that it would highlight it and give it some dimension.

I then took the card layer, used the snowflakes from the stamp set and Tempting Turquoise again to stamp the images all over the card layer to make it look like it was snowing. Snowflakes galore! :)

Once that was done, I set it aside and starting working on the snow people. On another piece of Whisper White cardstock, I stamped all the images needed to create both the snowman and snowwoman. I used a grey ink pad for the snow people’s bodies, a brown ink pad for the little stick arms (both ink pads are what I had on hand, use what you have until you can get your Stampin’ UP! stash built up), Bermuda Bay Stamp Pad (order number 131171) was used for the snowman’s hat and tie and Melon Mambo Stamp Pad (order number 126948) was used for the snowwoman’s ear muffs and scarf. Once I had all the pieces stamped out and ready to go, it was time to get to die cutting them all out using the co-ordinating die set that came in the bundle.

They were easy to line up and cut out using my Big Shot Machine (order number 113439). If you don’t yet have the magnetic platform (order number 130658) you can use some washi tape to hold the die in place. All I did after that was put the little guys together. Super simple! :)

Now that all the pieces had been cut and inked, all that was left to do was to put the card together and add a sentiment. I adhered the card layer to the base card using Snail Adhesive (order number 104332), added the ‘hill’ to the bottom of the card layer and stamped the sentiment roughly in the top middle of the card layer. Once I was happy with that, I simply added the two snow people using Stampin’ Dimensionals (order number 104430) to the card and VOILA! A simple yet cute Christmas card done.

I hope you found this tutorial enjoyable and that you give it a try. Everyone can craft I truly believe that!
